Possibly the Helwig is related to the ones I'm researching. I have John Helwig b.1843 in Saxony; he and what appear to be two close male relatives all in Newark, NJ around 1861-3 (all children born NJ from 1861 on). John's wife (Louisa Ashenfelder) was born in Bavaria. The other adult Helwigs are: George Helwig b.~1839, Saxony and wife Caroline b~ 1840 at Baden; August Helwig b~1840 at Prussia and wife Henriette from Prussia;Casber HELWIG b~1830 at Hesse Kassel and wife Mary b~1837 from Prussia; and Casber HELWIG b~1806 from Germany. (from 1880 Census).

I don't know how common the Helwig name is in Saxony, but perhaps there's a link here somewhere...
