Thanks for your reply. It's conceivable that your Helwig ancestors and mine were from the same extended family, but I believe the fact that mine were from the Duchy of Brunswick (now in Lower Saxony) and went directly to St. Louis, rather than to Newark, makes a close connection unlikely.

My Heinrich Friedrich Ahrenholz and Caroline Christiane Friederike Helwig had, in addition to Wilhelm Carl Friedrich (born in Germany in 1861), four other children, all born in St. Louis: Sophia (born 1867, married Frederick Wilhelm Sachse), Emil (born 1870), Katie (born c1872, married George Schnell) and Hannah (born c1874, married Fred Goedecke).
