I have been trying to find information on the town that my great-great-grandfather came from in Germany. His obit stated that the name of the town was Assetheim, Germany.
I don't know if there is a mis-spelling here or not. I have been unable to find anything on Assetheim. My g-g-grandfather's name was Wilhelm Helwig, born 14 Jan, 1823, died 13 Aug, 1895 in Cass City, MI. As far as I can tell he came to the USA sometime around 1840-1846.
