I do live in IL. Bureau Co to be exact. We (my Hendersons) have often looked at the Henderson clan around Cuba IL and have speculated about it. My ancester was a Uriah Henderson born abt 1811/12 in Fayette Co Pa (or on the ocean)and was brought up his entire childhood at Fayette Pa. He married Eliza Hartman in Washington Co Pa about 1838. I don't know Eliza's parents yet either. They lived from 1838 to 1854 in Dunbar Fayette Co Pa. They had Isaac, Samuel, Uriah Jr, Joseph, Alexander, Sarah E., and Morgan all in Fayette Co. In 1854 they left Dunbar and I found the family in Putnam Co IL in the 1855 IL State census. (This left no time for delay in coming. They must have come straight from Pa to Putnam. Do you know what the early boundries of Fulton Co IL were. I know the boundries in IL changed some. Those names Thomas and Daniel were common names with Stewart Henderson. He was from Ireland. I don't know if any of his branches lived in or around the Cuba area. I will have to refresh my files on that group. Could you be related to Stewarts branch-or Stewarts brother Samuel. Samuel lived around Erie Pa but he had children that traveled back and forth between Erie and Fayette.
I know the Henderson's all date back to Scotland. Mom was a member of the Clan Henderson for years and I took up her membership after she passed away. Since Uriah was here before the 1840 era I assume that his family must have left Ireland because of the religion. Mom said all the early Irish that came here before the potato famine came because of the religion.
Uriah's death certificate said his nationality was Irish and on a census he said his parents were of foriegn birth. With the Margaret Boyd living with them and her birth being Irish I would bet that they were Irish Henderson's but how I just don't know.
