Greetings Yvonne,

Our immigrant ancestor to New Netherlands (New York) was Nathaniel Pietersen de Hennion baptized at Leiden, Holland, in 1636. He came here in 1657 as a soldier for the Dutch West India Co. I am told that his father Pieter/Pierre was from Mouvian or Mouvaux, France. A Hennion descendant traveled in the Netherlands years ago. She said Pierre was a specialist in wool weaving and did not join the guild in Holland which indicated to her that he retained his French citizenship. Keep in touch and tell us what you learn about our Hennion roots and good luck with your research.

Cheryl Hennion Hahn
