Charles Carl Herb is my great-grandfather, my sister and I have just started researching him and his civil war exploits. He was the son of Joseph (born 10/17/1801 in Mecklinberg, Germany) He had eight sibs Eva, Mary 1828, Michael 1830, Frank 1832, Daniel 1834, Catherine 1836, Jacob 1839, Barbara 1842, Francis (?) and Charles Carl. He served in the Wisconsin Volunteers Co. D 21st Regiment, wounded at Chickamauga in various prison camps for the rest of the war. He married Teresa Daniel at sandusky city, eric county Ohio. Do you know anything about that part???? Moved to Greenville Ore (no longer there but I live nearby & will share what info I find if you like) nearest town is Forest Grove, Washington County. He and Teresa had George 1870, Louisa 1872, Charles J 1875, Aggie 1876, Frank 1878, John H 1880, Amilia 1882 & Mary 1884. Hope this helps
Karen
