Spotted your message. I have a Robert in my family. My Robert was killed in 1st WW 1914 France. He was born in Sunderland & his father was Nicholas too. What I am wondering is was there two Robert's both dying in the 1st WW? One Robert coming from Canada and the other England? My Robert was a Machinist in the Sunderland Shipyards. Roberts next of kin on cwgc is his brother James R Herdman. (Not sure if he married) Is it possible that I have the wrong Robert? (English) & should I follow a Canadian connection? Or is this the same person and he emigrated and came back to fight in the war? (I also have a photo) signed - love Bert! Not sure where it was taken or who the people are on it. Is this Bert"ram" or as I thought "Ro"bert? I must admit I have not had any Canadian certificates yet! So this might be a new adventure.
