HERNDON, Benjamin, d 1819 Newberry Dist SC
I would appreciate some correspondence with someone familiar with this Benjamin HERNDON.
It appears to be the same man mentioned in the following plat:
http://www.archivesindex.sc.gov/search/details.asp?index=32566&table=AllArchivalData&tableLook=Platshttp://www.archivesindex.sc.gov/search/details.asp?index=32566&table=AllArchivalData&tableLook=Plats
I would appreciate any comments which might help clarify who these individuals were and where this plat was located (on a modern map).
I've seen at least one note that a Betty HERNDON married Hilliar ROUSSEAU:

and, I have noted that the surveyor George HARBIRT is reported to have a son Hilliar (maybe pronounced Hillary); and, my William GILREATH (d 1794/1795 Newberry Co SC) had a grandson named Hilliare GILREATH.(Joseph HERNDON was a witness for one of the estate documents in Wilkes Co NC for William GILREATH.)I am hoping someone might know more on these associations.
I've noted that there was a Thomas HARBIRT was one of the exors. of George DAWKINS in a 1785 judgment:

William GILREATH (d 1794/1795 Newberry Co SC) was appointed along with Robert RUTHERFORD in case concerning DAWKINS:
1787, March Court (p93):William DAWKINS, Plaintiff agnst Maryann LANE, Adm'x of Edw'd, dec'd, def't.By consent of parties and assent of the court all matters and things in controversy between the above parties are refer'd to Robt RUTHERFORD, Robt GILLAM, Edward FINCH and William GILREATH whose awards returned to this court shall be the judgement of the court.[p33, Newberry Minutes of County Court, 1785-98]

I would like to know if Benjamin HERNDON was affiliated with any church in the area of Newberry (or Whitmire?) SC.
Any comments will be greatly appreciated.
