Jessica Dear,.DO you have The BOOK "The Decendants of William & Sarah POE of Caroline Co,Va and Chatham Co,North Carolina" by Ruth Herndon Shields??
No but my genealogy library has it. I will have to check it out next time I get down there.

I have two Sarah Wingfields that married Herndons who I think were cousins.

George Herndon b about 1731 VA d 1796 NC m 1752 VA Sarah Wingfield b 1732 VA d 1802 NC and they had 13 children.

John Herndon b 1742 VA m 1765 VA Sarah Wingfield b 1746 VA d 1774 NC and had Sarah Herndon b 1772 NC d 1851 NC.

I had already had George and Sarah Herndon in my tree so when I found John and Sarah Herndon I first wondered if it was the same Sarah Wingfield. Then I began tracing that line back and something told me to look at one of John Herndon's ancestors. Turns out that ancestor was also an ancestor of George Herndon so George and John Herndon are second cousins.

Now what I have been wondering is if Sarah Wingfield b 1732 VA d 1802 NC and Sarah Wingfield b 1746 VA d 1774 NC are related. I am pretty sure they are because my hunch about their husbands being related were right but my hunch is just based on their names.

Do you happen to have any information on the Herndons in my first post?
