Larry:
I am the President of the Herrick Family Association, HFA. The HFA database has over 19,000 individuals on it. It was initially built from the 1846 & 1885 editions of the Herrick Genealogical Register, HGR.
I searched the HFA database to no avail. I could not find an Elizabeth HERRICK that m. a Benjamin BICKFORD or BECKFORD on the database. There is a BICKFORD family on the data base from the mid to late 1800s in NH.
I searched the CD for Essex Co. MA Early Vital Records to about 1850 and found two records which you probably have. They are:
Page 156 of Beverly, Essex Co., MA Marriages:
HERRICK, Elizabeth, Mrs., and Benjamin Bickford [of Salem, int.], Mar 29, 1753*
Where (int.) = Intention of Marriage, (publication of same), and (*) = Intention also recorded.
And from page 39 of Beverly, Esssex Co., MA Marriages
BICKFORD (see also Beckford), Benjamin [of Salem, int.], and Mrs. Elizabeth Herrick, Mar 29, 1753*
Sometimes in those days the term "Mrs." was applied to a female as a term of respect, so I searched for a single female that had never been married. I could not find one of the right age, born say between 1725 & 1735. There is a distinct possibility that she was a widow and that may be why I could not find a single female named Elizabeth HERRICK as a possible to have m. Benjamin BICKFORD or BECKFORD.
I did a check of Salem, Essex Co., MA marriage records on the CD and I did not find such a record there for HERRICK or BICKFORD or BECKFORD.
Relatively yours,
Richard Leon Herrick
