David Ambrose Hertzog (PA & NY, 1866-1953) etc.
Howdy.I'm looking for info on my grandfather, David Ambrose Hertzog, and his family. He was born somewhere in Pennsylvania in about 1866 to parents who emigrated from somewhere in Germany.(Not a lot for starters, I know.)If it helps, he worked for most of his life as a tea and coffee salesman. His first wife was named Anna, and they had six children together. In 1900 they were living in western Pa., around New Castle, but by 1910 they were divorced and he was living in the Scranton-Carbondale area.(Anna Hertzog, says the 1910 Census, was living with the three youngest kids in a boarding house in Reading, Pa., and working in a stocking factory.I haven't learned what became of the three older children. All of these would be my half-aunts and half-uncles.)He married my grandmother, Blanche Cleveland Archer from Olyphant, Pa., that year (1910); they spent most of the next 20+ years in Olyphant, Scranton and thereabouts, then moved to Binghamton, N.Y., in about 1932 or '33.They had 10 kids, of whom my dad was the baby.We don't know anything about my grandfather's family--he was a bit in love with the bottle and seems to have been estranged from them--and I'd love to connect with any possible Hertzog relatives I don't yet know about, or to obtain any leads on my heritage. Thanks!
