It does seem promising that there is a connection somewhere. Patrick Heslin m. in Lanark in Dec. 1872, Anne McLachlin, at the age of 24. He d. d Burnopfield 30th June 1899. He listed that his father, Thomas, was a farmer.
Their children were Thomas (b. 1873) , Mary, John, James (b. 10/1887), Patrick(b.1891(, others.

This Thomas died at Somme in 1916, and is
buried there. Patrick Heslin b 4 October 1891. d 2 April 1897

So, we have 3 Heslin names in common, Thomas, James and John.
