You might find this of interest:
The 1900 census for Rockaway, N.J., shows John C. Heslin, 76,and Mary Heslin, 74, and says they had been married 21 years. (Mary was John’s second wife; the first was Catharine, who died in 1878.)According to the census, both John and Mary were born in Ireland.
According to the census, they lived in the Heslin Hotel with their son, John, his wife, Mary, and their three children, John, Robert and Thomas (my father).
And, according to the census, they also lived with a Mike Tully, listed as a "servant," age 20, who was born in Ireland in 1880.
I know that my Heslins are related somehow to the Heslins of New York. Perhaps Mike is one of your Tullys.
According to the census, John C. Heslin came to the U.S. in1836. I have never been able to find any record of his arrival, nor of his birth county.
Best,
Tom Heslin
