Morrison,
Thanks for the followup posting. I saw in your Greene Family Forum posting that you have Iowa ties. Perhaps this may provide some chance of tying together our lines.
Since I posted my original message, I have discovered that Harrison moved west from Green Lake Co., WI along with (at least) his son, Thomas. Harrison seems more likely to have been born in Vermont than New York.
They settled for a time in Iowa (probably near Sioux Center in Sioux Co.). They were in Iowa long enough for Thomas and Caroline to have four children. We think all were born in Iowa, but later census records are of no use because three of the four died in diptheria epidemics (along with the oldest child).
Thomas, Caroline, and Harrison (and others?) moved to Hutchinson Co., South Dakota, where Thomas and Caroline had their only other surviving child and Harrison died (both in 1885). Apparently his wife Loana had already died, as she is not buried in SD. Whether she died before they left WI or in Iowa (perhaps in one of the diptheria epidemics) is unknown.
Harrison and Loana (Stebbins) Heth had at least the following children: Thomas Stebbins, Harrison E., Charles, and Addison. Harrison E. and Charles died as babies and are buried at Sheridan Center Cemetery in Chautauqua Co., NY. We have no idea what happened to Addison.
Names of the children of Thomas Stebbins and Caroline (Briggs) Heth were: Elmer Eugene, Arthur Harrison, Archie Edson, Mary Lowana, Fannie, and Nels (or Nelson) Thomas.
Perhaps some of this may ring a bell with you or some other future reader.-David-
