On Sunday, January 2, 2005, Geoffrey Mark Hewson, Willowdale Lodge, Kipling, Sask and formerly of Langbank, Sask., age 102 years. The funeral service will be held in the Langbank United Church, Langbank, Sask., on Thursday, January 6, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Officiant: Rev. Barbara Wilkins. Interment of cremated remains in St. Paul's Cemetery at a later date. Predeceased by his first wife, Susan in 1949, one brother Brian Hewson and one sister Barbara Mills, both in England. Geoff is survived by his wife, his children: Amarat (Jim) Smyth, Kipling, Sask., and their children Stuart (Lanette) Smyth and Nancy (Steve) Porter, daughter Barbara Hewson, Esterhazy, Sask., Son Thomas (Mary) Hewson, Langbank, Sask., son, Leonard (Rose-Marie) Hewson, Langbank, Sask., son, Robin (Dorothy) Hewson, Langbank, Sask., and their children Margaret (Ivan) Hansen, Jeanette Hewson and Geoffrey Hewson, daughter Heather (Richard) Gosselin, Regina, Sask., daughter Rosemary (David) Cowan, Langbank, Sask., and their children, Jennifer (Derek) Bruce, Merodee (Kevin) Hassler and Mark Cowan. Geoff is also survived by Edith's daughter Maxine (Ron) Stocker, Barrie, Ont., and their children Samantha and Beau. 12 great grandchildren. Geoffrey Mark Hewson was born at Birkenhead, Cheshire, England on December 31, 1902, son of Frank and Amaret Hewson. Geoff came to Langbank, Sask., in December of 1919. In 1931 he married Susan Dickey and in 1935, they moved into a house they had built on NW 16, 13, 2, W2nd. Geoff farmed in the Langbank district until retirement in 1999. Geoff served on the Langbank Coop Association Board for 38 years, 34 years as chairman. He was also chairman of the local Sask Wheat Pool Committee for over 30 years. He was councillor of the R.M. of Silverwood for 21 years. Other interests were The United Church of Canada the Woodside School Board, the Kennedy Telephone Exchange, the Hudson's Bay Route Association and Ducks Unlimited. Geoff and Edith Marks were married in 1977 and enjoyed many holidays in such places as South America, Australia and Great Britain. He always said Canada was his favorite country. In 1999 Geoff and Edith retired to Kipling and in 2001 he took up residence at Willowdale Lodge
