Loved getting your reply to my Heyd posting! Much has been accomplished since that 1/99 posting, and I'm happy to share it with you. I'm not sure I can help you with your Casper Hettinger (but who knows?) but I may have some good news about your Anne Marie Heyd. I spent a day in Niederroedern this September! Found the church where my Jacob was baptised and confirmed and had the chance to read and copy the original church records. I'll check the 39 pages of HEYD records that I've got and see if I have your Anne Marie. I'll email you w/more info.
Other than that I HIGHLY recommend you utilize the LDS FHL microfilms from Niederroedern. The Civil Registration Decennale (10 year) indexes make it very easy to find birth, marriage, and death registration records, and then you can access the film with the actual entire record. Once you understand the form of the records (printed form with info written in, from 1813 on) you can get much information, even if you don't know French. Prior to 1813 there are C.V. records back to 1793, but these are in German and are more difficult (but not impossible in most cases) to figure out.
Sorry we hadn't connected before my trip; I could have easily looked for Hettingers as I searched the records!
So glad to connect with yet another HEYD cousin!
