From what I notice, "Akana" seems to be way too common, and understandably so given the fact that it comes from KANG (Ah Kang) which by being Hawaiianzed gave way to A[h]Kan[g]a.

I have seen AKANA on the Big Island and from Maui and know that the ones I saw were not related. Maybe if you narrowed it down to a specific town, island, etc. that may help. The ones that married into my family come from Oahu and Maui. Don't think they're related to one another either.
