Sarah Mock married Francis Gray and their daughter was Margaret Gray. Francis Gray died on the way to Monroe County, Iowa. He died near Milton, Iowa and was buried along the road. The family was waiting for the Iowa lands to open up upon release from the Indians. Sarah Mock Gray continued to Monroe County, homesteaded, and raised the children on her own. She did not remarry.

m. Oct. 5, 1872 in Albia, Monroe County, IA
d. Dec. 11, 1911 in Ness City, Ness Co., KS

John Wesley and Mary Hickenlooper Hayes went to KS in 1878 with Hillah and Sitha White Hayes, parents of Mary.
