My Hiddleston (and numerous variant spellings!)family immigrated from Dumfries between 1802-1808 to the U.S., settling in Ohio. William Hiddleston and wife Martha Philpot had at least three children - William, Joseph and Jane - possibly David and Thomas, all born Dumfries. Have been unable to identify parents of either William or Martha - conflicting info on their ages - estimated to be born 1770 and 1775 respectively, but may have been born earlier. A Mary Hodleston age bet. 70-80 yrs. listed in 1830 Census living next to William and Joseph in Ohio - may be mother or ?grandmother as household also includes a female age 50-60 yrs., other younger females - but no males.
Would love to exchange information.
