Hi, Valerie!

I just found this site a couple of nights
ago, or I would have responded sooner.

Yes, I am familiar with your family. Your
father, Hugo Russel, was my second-cousin,
and your grandfather, Hugo H., was a first
cousin to my father, Melvin W. Your
grandfather's parents were Abraham A. Hiebert (1868-1951) and Justina Harms (1876-1946).
Abraham A.'s father (your great-great-
grandfather) was Abraham Hiebert (1839-1895), who wrote the diary which you have.
Abraham's parents were Johann Hiebert
(1816-1890) and Eva Knelsen/Kornelsen
(1820-1875), about whom you may have noticed
other postings. The wife of Abraham Hiebert
(1839-1895) was Helena Pankratz (1841-1905),
the daughter of Jakob Panratz (1796-1869) and Sara Buller/Bullerin (1803-?).

I have quite a bit more information to pass on to you, but don't know how much room there is on this site. I have been trying to back-trace on the ancestors of Johann Hiebert (1816-1890), and believe I have made some progress. I will be posting my findings in response to some of the other postings.

Talk to you soon, hopefully.

Ed
