The census discrepancy may be for the fact that the west side of Vermont was originally New York until, and dont quote me on the date, about 1800. I think Middlebury was affected by this. But, censustakers made lots of mistakes also. I dont recall seeing David listed in any of the volumes of Addison County records on microfilm that I've looked through...but that doesn't mean much. I didnt see Mary there either. Henry Hier was definitely in Middlebury in 1791 for he shows up on the 1790 census with 12 children, most of whom have not been identified. i will see what I can find...
