Higham Family New York and New Jersey
Hi,
I am looking for a John Higham believed to have been born in New Jersey November 1882. I have no idea who his parents were or if he had any siblings. He was an electrical contractor and worked in the Little Theatre in New York. I do know that he married a lady named Frances Devlin/Davlin and they lived at 19 Sharpe Ave. Richmond Staten Island in 1918 I got this information from WWI Draft Papers. I can't seem to find any trace of him again until WWII draft papers where he was living in New York City. His wife Frances and children were all living with Frances' father in the 1930 Census. I know this man was the father of at least 4 children Thomas J. Higham B:Nov 23, 1910 and D:October 2, 1998, John (Jack) Higham B:January 7, 1913 D: Feb 1982, Margaret Higham B: ABT 1915 D:unsure but she died of breast cancer, and Michael William Higham B: January 15, 1919 and D: June 5, 2005
I married into this family 22 years ago and my husband was killed in an accident in 1988. I never really got to know alot about this line. I have two sons who I'd like to pass the information along to. Everytime I asked my father-in-law about his father he became very quiet. The only answers I ever got from him was that his name was John he was an electrician, and his family line came from Wales. When I ask questions from other family members they all give me the same answers they really don't seem to know. They claim there seemed to be secrets that no one discussed when it came to this man. There have been stories I've heard that he was a wealthy man as well. I really have hit brick walls everyplace I seem to turn. I do know that there is a Lars Higham out there someplace who works into this family line. I've seen some postings from him on different message boards but have been unable to make a connection. Any help would be appreciated at this point.
