Marilyn: I have some information on John Hight Sr. and Eleanor Nichols. The information is in a Word file and I'll be happy to send it to you if I have an e-mail address. He is referred to as John Hight Sr. because Franklin County, N.C., records sometimes used the senior or junior to distinguish him from his son. In addition, although his father and/or grandfather may well have been named John, I don't know of any documentary proof that they were. He quite likely came out of the Hight family in New Kent County, Va., but, again, I don't know of any proof. If you have any, I'd love to see it. By the way, I am a descendant of John Sr. and John Jr. Regards, Bruce
