Walter S. Helms and Arrie Hightower on 1930 census
I am trying this backdoor approach to see if I can find out what happened to the Dawson children there were listed in this household on the 1930 Waxahachie, Ellis Co., TX census and also how related to either Walter Helms or his wife, Arrie HIGHTOWER.Long story is that G.C. Dawson was killed in the 1924 Scollard Bld collapse in Dallas TX and The Dallas Morning News paper had a story and photo of Dawson. The last paragraph stated that Dawson, who recently came to Dallas from Waxahachie, is survived by his wife (and no name, so I am clueless) and four children, R.L Dawson, 10, Wilma Etta, 7, Joseph A., 4 and Doris Naomi, 2.
On the 1930 census ofWaxahachie is this:
Walter S. Helms, age 38
Arrie (HIGHTOWER) age 25,
Milton C.son,age 3
Lyman R,son,age 2
Martha F. grandmother, age 72 and widowed, born Ala
R.L. DAWSON, age 16,
Wilma E. DAWSON, age 14,
Joseph A. DAWSON, age 10,
Doris N. DAWSON, age 8,
Grady DAWSON, age 5.
Can anyone help with this family and how the DAWSON children are connected. The Arrie name is in some of the DAWSON lines, so wondered who Arrie's parents are.I know Walter S. Helms died in 1948 as found on The Texas deaths, but do not know what happend to Arrie.
I am actually searching for the Dawson line, but I am trying every method I know of to get the info. I have a granddaughter, that is almost 5, and the G.C. Dawson above would be her GG-grandfather..on her mothers side of family and not my sons side.
I am almost 60 and working hard to get the family history for my granddaughter.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.
