Hi Polly,
I am also descended from the Thomas Hightower/Nancy Mason line.Their son William Joseph b. 1807 was my gggggrandfather. He died in 1868 and is buried at Old New Garden Cemetery in Ray County, Missouri.Their other children include John L., Susan b. 1811 or 1814? (she married Allen Clevenger of Cocke County, TN according to 1850 Cocke County census), Allen, Allie, Henry, Henrietta, Harriett and Barksdale Nathaniel.William Joseph married Elizabeth Clevenger b. 1807 in Cocke County, TN. The information I have indicates that Thomas and Nancy moved from SC to Virginia and when William was abt. 12 yrs of age to TN.Hope this helps.
