We have been doing a little research into "HILER" and believe that a George married an Elizabeth Fortune with the birth date of one of them being around 1816. It would follow that a child may have been named "FORTUNE" for the maiden name of the mother. Notice that your communication was in 1998. Heard anything?

Part of the same line, we believe that an "ADAM HILER" who served as a captain of a ship during the revolutionary war married a women called Mary, last name unknown, but from Prussia, sometime around 1750. We believe that Adam died sometime before or during the 1780's.

WE have found the cemetary in MN called "HILER" where many of our ancestors were buried. Have also discovered records from the 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880 census data. 1890 records were destroyed we are told. However we are also looking for info regarding a RUFUS HILER who may have changed his name to Robert Franklin Hiler. Supposedly Rufus was the brother of a "George" and the son of a "George", child of George and Elizabeth Fortune mentioned above.

Would be interested in hearing what you know.
