I'm trying to trace back beyond my Washington Co, Ky Hillards.
Found this a few weeks ago.
Stephen Pearson was a bondsman for George Stagner and Sarah Hillard, 16 Mar 1793 Rowan Co, NC Witness Jos. Chambers
1800 Rowan Co Census has a George Stagner, p 328
I found an unknown Stagner family group on Ancestry with sons:
Nathan, abt 1770 NC - bet 1851 and 1857 Benton Co TN
John abt 1771 NC - aft 1850 Calloway Co, KY
Barnabas abt 1773 NC - bef 1836 Stewart Co, TN
George, died unknown.
Rowan Co, NC Deeds, Book 15, p 416. 3 Nov 1797 George Hillard bought land and George Stagner was one of the witnesses.
Rowan Co, NC Deeds, Book 18, p 595. George STAGNER sold 67 acres on Fourth Creek to Richard Graham. George Hillard witnessed
Rowan Co, NC Deeds, Book 18, p 600. George Hillard sold 200 acres to Richard Graham.George STAGNER witnessed.
Rowan Co, NC Deeds, Book 18, p 783 Richmond Pearson to George HILLARD and John HILLARD, the heirs of Daniel Hillard, and the heirs of Henry Hillard Jr., all heirs of Henry Hillard Sr. for 20 shillings, 100 acres in the forks of a small creek where Henry Hillard Sr. formerly lived, adjacent John Barney STAGNER.It being part of a State grant to Richmond Pearson.
1 June 1805, Rowan Co, NC George Stagner to marry Catharine Hendrix.Bondsman James Hendrix. (related to Warren co, NC Stagners?)
There is a George Stagner in Stewart Co, TN on its 1810 tax list.
