The name Hillis IS a derivative of Hillhouse. They originated with Abraham of Artikelly, ayrshire, Scotland. The hillhouse family divided into three branches, one going to Bristol Eng., and becoming ship builders, another branch went to London and became tilors. The third went to Ireland, and eventually to Pennsylvania. from there, my line went to S. C., and eventually to Wright Co., Mo.
