Could thyere be a connection to Alexander Brown Hillhouse?
Moutaineer Issue Jan. 2, 1834- Married on Thrusday last by the Rev. James Hillhouse, Capt. Daniel Towers, to Miss Margaret Brown, daughter of Alexander Brown, all of this district.
Moutainer Issue of January 7, 1835- Died on the 28 inst., at his residence in Anderson, Mr. Daniel Towers, in the 36th year of his age....leaving a wife a 6 children....member of the Presbyterian Church.
The ..... spaces indicate addtional text not germain to genaology has been ommitted. I do not understand the meaning of inst.
Old Pendelton District and Anderson County Wills (Clayton Lib.)- deed book page 502-505 text page 79 & 77. Will of Daniel R. Towers- - Negro girl Betsy to be held in trust by executors for my daughter Margaret Elvira. Betsey to continue with wife until daughter marries or comes of age. Wife Margaret to have residue of estate for her life or widowhood then divided between all of my children. Wife to educate children. Negroes and property sold if executors think best. Executors: brother Silas Towers and friend Joseph N. Whitner. Dated 12 Nov. 1834. Wit. Francis Posey, Samuel P. Hillhouse, S. L. Westmoreland.
Codicil- Since execution of will on 12 Nov. 1834 it has pleased God to add to my family an infant daughter for whom I desire to make a similiar provision with that made for the older daughter. I give negro child Amjanda about 6 months old and her future increase to be held in trust for my infant daughter Rebeckah. Rebeckah to be included in division of estate with all my children. Dated 27 Dec. 1834. Wit.: Sanford Vandiver, Samuel Brown, Ibyan (?) Rice. Proven 9 Feb. 1835.
Vandiver- I do have a extensive file on this family It is a least 2 generations before Sanford Brown married Helenea Brown. Most of the males in this family are Presbyterian ministers.
1790 Wm Towers is in the Pendleton Dist. census for SC page 125 # 212., 1810 ditto page 146 and John page 152, 1820 John Towers ditto page 174, 1830 Leonard Towers, Pickney SC page 258 and Leonard Towers, Pickney. 1840 Solomn, Anderson page 131. J R L p 122 and Silas page 131.
