The line you are looking for is not in the Margaret Hillhouse book. It is, though, my direct line (Mary Dickey and James Hillhouse). The Margaret Hillhouse book concentrates on the New England branch of the family. The Mary Dickey/James Hillhouse line is the southeastern branch.

Over the 40+ years I have spent doing genealogy, there is no documented proof that James wasa in the Revolutionary war. Nor is there any documented proof that I've discovered that he was a tax payer or donated money, etc. to the war effort. Hopefully someone else will see this and provide source documentation for both of us.

I believe there is documentation on the Dickey side (Mary's father). I would have to check over the weekend.
