Hi Mary,
Been on here twice today, googled Francis Hillhouse after looking at the 1891 census and your info came up. I am going back from Pte. Thomas Hillhouse awarded the D.C.M for bravery WW1 The 1st Battalion Scottish Riffles (Cameronians) When I know that you have received this, and we can swap email addresses I will forward you the reason for Thomas's actions regarding this D.C.M. medal. Thomas's father was James Hillhouse married to Bessie Leitch, James's father was William Hillhouse married to Margaret Downie, I now also have Downie certificates.

Best Regards
Linda
