I have a book on the Hillis family that you are talking about. It shows 8 children for Samuel Hillis. This comes from his will dated August 1782. Isaac(1787-1876) Married Rebecca Naylor and Nancy Logue(25 children). He is buried in Blackstone Hillis Cemetary near McMinnville, TN. Issac was elected constaable of the 8th district of TN in 1840 and was also appointed to roada jury. According to the 1840 VanBuren County tax list he owned 386 acres of land. In the 1870 census he was said to be 84 years old and blind. He was the son of John Hillis, mothers name unknown. Hope this is of some help to you. I can look up other things for you if you would like. You can email me at cgaines@ipa.net. My line from Samuel is Samuel Jr, Samuel C, John M and Viola.
