I was looking at the posting info again and noticed your post. I see that William Hinckley is on the 1850 & 1860 census for Rutland. If you notice William is living next to a James & Stalham on the 1850 census. I feel that Stalham is most likely the father of both James & William. Stalham had 3 children that I know of George born 1819, Edward born 1836 and Laura Jane born 1838. The 1860 census shows Stalham living with Edward, but James, William and George also show up in that census. I am working with another cousin to try and connect William & James (and possibly an Elijah) to Stalham. Conntact me if this seems feasible to you, I have much more Hinckley info.
