Alton P. Hinckley, born abt 1876, son of Charles Hinkley and Eliza Nash of Harrington, Maine. Alton was a sailor (ship's cook) and lumberman. He married Bessie Frye of Columbia, Maine in 1906 and they had 2 children, Maurice (who died of polio)and Hilda (married Frank DeLuca, lived Stamford, CT). Alton suffered a head injury in a logging accident which caused him to have fits of violence. Bessie divorced him in 1919. I have not been able to find anything else about him. Does anyone know what became of him?
Alton's father Charles Hinckley was from Milbridge, Maine, and family memory has it that they were related to the Reverend Hinckley who founded the Hinckley School for Boys. According to the 1900 census, Alton had two younger brothers, Herbert (b. 1879) and Albert (b. 1888).
