I donít know if I have any more info than you have provided on the GenForum. Mostly I know more about a son of ďArthur Baker and Lucy C. HinckleyĒ named Wilbur Forrest Baker. Wilbur married at age 25, in Boston by a Catholic Priest, Catherine Frances St. John. (MA VR Vol 573 page 33 NEHGS) He was born in New Haven and she was born in Newfoundland. I have documented Wilbur but in the 1900 and the 1910 census he reports his mother was born in Missouri! Missouri!?
Wilburís marriage record is typed. It is not the more common actual hand written record so I donít know if there was more info that didnít get transcribed. I always want to see the hand written record, as there is more info than in the indexes.
I have documented Lucy in several censuses but she is not from Missouri. I found her as a daughter of Hiram and Maria L. In 1880, she is living with an uncle, Stephen Wooding. Later in 1900 she is living in New Haven, works as a rubber shoe worker and is DIVORCED. She is the mother of one child who is living, but not with her. Heís in the service in Philadelphia. Oh to have the 1890 census!
My friend has her married to Arthur Forrest Baker of Springfield and he has her name as Lucille Carter Hinckley. No documentation on this coupleís marriage.
I do have an Arthur F. Baker of Springfield, born 19 Jul 1855 and his parents. The weak link is the Arthur Baker-Lucy C. Hinckley connection. Iím not sure about this except for Wilburís marriage record.
It appears to me Lucy had a marriage and one child and was divorced. But who is the Arthur Baker she married? I have more tidbits of info but nothing that proves that I have the right Arthur.
I will be glad to share anything further. You can contact me through my email, which is on this site. Just click on my name which is underlined and also look for my posting history.
BTW: I have Hinckleys in my own family history in the Cape Cod area but it is very early. Iím a Massachusetts native, so I research all of New England.
