Hello Sandra,My Hinde family research has taken me back to
1706 in Sturton Le Steeple in North east Nottinghamshire in parishes adjacent to the River Trent and Gainsborough(Lincolnshire border).Other Parishes where links were found included North Leverton,South Leverton,Rampton & Ollerton.
The name HIND is slightly more well represented in Nottinghamshire than HINDE but with several families in quite a number of Parishes.Genuki's map of Nottinghamshire Parishes(which is very useful)shows Oxton to be south of the Centre Of Nottinghamshire.I would try adjacent parishes of Calverton,Thurgaston and others closer by.NottsGen Mailing list might have somebody with an indexed 1851 census that might give further clues or have you tried IGI entries for both HINDE & HIND.?
Please let me know if I can help any further & welcome to the Forum-I pushed for it to be set up.

Kind Regards
David Hinde
