Hello Susan. I am a writer from Nova Scotia ( twenty minutes from the site of the wreck ) and have been obsessed about the story of John for the last five years after literally stumbling on to the gravesite ofthe Atlantic some sevne yearsago now. I am using parts of the real story to weave in a fictional novel for younger readers. I have a fair amount of information-including a picture of John taken in Halifax the days following the wreck. Like you, I have read the Two Atlantics but info there is fictinalized there as well, I think. He did go to New York and that is all I know .. but I do have some info from provincial archives....and the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic has some documents as well. I would send you what material I have gladly...I think John's story is important.....Sheree Fitch. ( I am currently living in Washington Dc and go to Nova Scotia for the summers )
