Thanks for the info. It is possible that we do have a connection, as the Hindley name is not a southern one. Is the Hindley family you mention in North London just yours? I do know that, via my great grandfather, the line
stays in North London back to the 1840s. However, my great grandfather did have nine surviving children by his second marriage (but I do not know about the first). If your
grandmother had a Lancastrian accent, was it
possible she was either born in London and raised in the North, or vice versa?
So many questions, and we are left to flounder in the dark.
