Hi Janice,
I believe, although it is only by piecing fragments of information together (as usual!) that my grandmother was born in North London, and that her mother must have come down from the North. I have contacted the Lancashire records office and they say that there are no sightings of a Dorothy Warburton Hindley(what a wonderful name!)and I have no dates or a maiden name for her mother. The lancastrian accent could have come directly from her mother, I know that I had a broad geordie accent when I was younger, as my mother came from Newcastle, yet I was born and raised in Reading! I reckon, at the moment at least, that Eliza must have moved to North London to marry Mr. Hindley and the family lived in Finchley until Mr. Hindley passed on, when Eliza moved to Dorothy's married home of High Wycombe. I know that Dorothy worked as a corseteer in Debenhams, Oxford St prior to her marriage in 1935, but I don't suppose that that will be much of a clue to the rest of the familys occupations.
Sooner or later, something will come to light, I'm sure of it!
Thanks again,
Sandie
