Thanks to Shelly for the death certificate.
Things are falling in place gradually. This IS the correct Oscar that would be the grandfather of Art.His wife was listed as Cathy Martin, = a match. He was only 25 years old, dying at an unusually young age, of liver cancer.
To this I can add a little more.In the Anderson Cemetery books, at Beaverdam Cemetery, there is no listing for Oscar, but there is a listing for:
--Ollie M. Hiott [1873-1958] ~ Allie?
--Gus F. Hiott [1870-1943]~ B.F. Hiott?
--Rebecca Mayfield [1820-1898]~ grandmotherof Allie?
I am beginning to suspect that Curtis Arthur [Art] is a descendant of these Anderson Co., SC, Hiotts, that I sometimes call "The Piedmont Hiotts."I still don't know their origin, but suspect that they may be related to the "Reedy River" Greenville Dist. Hiotts?
