Dear Luanne,
I have a James Hippensteel who married Mary Warren. They lived on a farm E. of Shippensburg , Pa. on Old Pike ( now Rt. 11. They moved to Wabash Co., In. and purchased a farm on Dec. 26, 1863. They had 10 Children, who moved to Indiana. All except son William who married Mary Commerer and stayed in PA. James and Mary had a daughter Elizabeth B. who married Jerome Smith. If any of these names match up, could your VANNES have been read as a mistake from WARREN.? I have seen many 'typos' and changes in spellings. Thought I'd write, with that possibility in mind.
