Patricia,
Received notice of your connection to the Hippensteel (Hippenstiel) family of PA. I am connected through my great-great aunt Margaret Ellen "Maggie" Bowers married to David Hippensteel. Maggie was David's second wife having married on 26 Nov. 1876 in Wabash Co., IN two years after the death of Sophie Bear. Maggie was the sister of my gr-gr-grandfather David Hayes Bowers. The Bowers, as the Hippensteels were in Cumberland Co., PA prior to their move to Wabash Co., IN, although my David did not follow his sister and three brothers there but rather moved to Martinsburg, Berkeley Co., WV in the Fall of 1875.
Do you know anything about the Ahl or Auhl family also from Cumberland Co., PA? Maggie & David's mother's name is listed as Anna Catherine Ahl in the cemetery records of Urbana, Wabash Co., IN where a number of my Bowers and a large contingency of Hippensteels are buried.
I'm glad to have finally made another connection to this family. If there is any other information you'd like that I might have, do not hesitate to ask. I believe that I did view the book you mentioned the last time I was at the LDS Library in Salt Lake City.
Thanks!
Ann M. Osisek
