I wonder if you might know anything more about Andrew HISE, the husband of Hannah HOPPES?I strongly suspect that my GGG-grandmother, Charity Hice KIGER (b. ca 1800 PA), may have been Andrew HISE's sister.I don't know when or where Charity HICE had married "Chris" KIGER, but their union produced one son (that I know of) who was named Andrew Jackson KIGER (b. 7 Apr 1835, IL) and I see that Andrew HISE had given the name of "Charity" to one of his daughters. Was this merely a coincidence, or are these family names?I noticed too that the families were associated with each other in the Webster and Hamilton county areas of Iowa in the early 1860's.Andrew HISE's son George and Charity KIGER's son Andrew both married into the same family (both FISHER women were daughters of Dr. Charles FISHER, Jr. and Mary HARRIS):
-----Andrew J. KIGER m. Margaret FISHER 27 May 1857, Hamilton Co. IA
-----George HICE m. Julia A. FISHER 29 Jan, 1857 (family record notes their marriage as also taking place in Hamilton Co. IA, but no record appears there, and I suspect that the marriage record may have been recorded in Webster Co. IA where George and Julia (Fisher) HICE later took up residence.)
George and Julia Fisher HICE had an only child, a son they named John H. HICE who was born 15 May, 1859 in Homer, Hamilton Co. IA.John was orphaned when his mother, Julia died 1-1/2 years after his birth and his father, George, died when he was only about 4 years old.John H. HICE then went to live with his uncle and aunt, Milton & Isabella Russell FISHER until he was about 16 years old.John H. HICE then left the family while they were residing in Cass Co. IA and returned to the Hamilton Co. IA area where he married Mathilda ANGSTROM 31 Aug 1887, in Stratford, Hamilton Co. IA.They settled in that area and remained there most of their lives until their deaths.Mathilda Angstrom HICE died Sept. 1945, Webster City, Hamilton Co. IA and John H. HICE died Aug. 1946, also in Webster City, Hamilton Co. IA.
Hamilton Co. IA also has on file a record of marriage for Catharine HICE and Anderson CLINE, 7 Oct. 1866. I see that you make note that both Caroline HISE and Dorothy HISE married an Anderson CLINE. Did he have a son with one of the HISE daughters that was also named Anderson CLINE who then married Catharine HICE/HISE the daughter of A. Harrison HISE?Is this an example of cousins marrying each other?Do you know any more about that?
I would really like to know more about the HISE/HICE family origins and ascertain whether Andrew HISE and Charity Hice KIGER are indeed related to one another.Any information would be most welcome.
