Hi, The Hoag name changed in some families to Hoeg, or Hoagland when they arrived in Michigan. I found a Byron in the 1880 census on the LDS census CD. Their CD of the census allows you to search by name. This Byron was living with another family. I gave the info to Bion Lywood Hoeg who lives in Michigan.

Most of the Hoag's I have followed moved from Edmeston, Otsego Cty, NY. There were a number of families and all appeared to move about the same time.

My Hoag's start with Benjamin Hoag born 24 Jan 1766 probably in Duchess County, NY. He lived in and is buried at Robinson's Corners cemetery, Edmeston, Ostego cty, NY.

He married Mary Tefft about 1788.

I have lots more info.
