I lived there for a few years (1933 - 1941 approx.), attended school in East Nassau. Do not recall any "Hoag" family at that time: when was (if ever ?) the last Hoag a resident there? Was this unincorporated area named after this family? I seem to recall that the local natives used to say it was the site of a battle (skirmish ?) during the Revolution. A neighboring farm was supposed to be getting some kind of a tax-break having to do with that war. Remember names such as Bassett, Bird, Turner, Williams and Woods...but no Hoag. Any information about this would be appreciated. Thankx,..... JACK
