The documentation for the first two generations is the baptismal record from the First Church of Boston for John born to Richard Hogge and his wife Joan. As I recall, John was baptised March 4, 1643 but I would have to check my paper files to be sure. There are also baptismal records for four children who preceded him, two brothers named Joseph and two sisters named Mary. Presumably the first two died as infants and the names were recycled. There is also a record that Richard sold a lot on Milk Street and Washington in Boston. I would have to look in my paper files to find the date of the sale. Richard was identified as a tailor.
