There IS a Hoag Corners still located in Dutchess County, New York, and there is a man by the name of Hoag living there today. I have spoken with him on at least one occasion.

Hoag Corners in Dutchess County is located at the "T" intersection of Hoag Corners Road and Pleasent Ridge Road, about 1 mile west of the Wingdale stoplight at the intersection of Pleasent Ridge Road (Dutchess Co. Rte. 21) and US Rte. 22. It is about 3 miles west of my house. At this light there is an historical marker that says:
A mile west is Philip Hoag house, built 1750, where Washington and troops, en route from Boston to New York, encamped in 1776.

At that location, 1 mile, west is a couple of old structures, one is/was a business, Hoag Corners Repair Shop. Some of the farmland around there has probably been owned by members of the Hoag family since the mid 1700's. There is a Hoag Cemetery about 1 mile south of Hoag Corners.

Members of the Hoag family came to this area of New York about 1731 from Massachusetts. They were Quakers at that time. Many of them were members of the Oblong Monthly Meeting House, which is about 3 miles south of my house. I believe that one of the early Hoags built my house in about 1785 - I know it was owned by a Henry G. Hoag in 1837. The births of 2 of his children are recorded in the Oblong MM minutes. Because of my research into the ownership history of my house I have found it necessary to research the Hoag family in this area.
