Russel Hoag and Francis Horace Hoag or Hoage

Some time ago I posted a query on Thomas Russel(l) Hoag of Vermillion Co. IL circa 1850. According to the 1850 census he was 42 years old, born in NY about 1818, and was a wagon master in 1850. He was married to Sarah Stansberry(?) who was 32 and they had two children: Francis Horace age 10( born in IL) and Henry H. age 8(born in IL). Thomas was listed as Russel Hoag on the census roll but his full name was given on Francis' marriage certificate as Thomas Russel. Francis was married to Sarah Emma Greathouse in December of 1881, his second marriage. I can not find either Russel or Francis on any census roll before or after 1850 in IL or surrounding states. It may be that Russel was born in NY near Hoag's corner close to the CT border. If anyone can help in this search, it will be greatly appreciated. Contact rettrh@yahoo.com.
Thank you.
Terry Hoage
