What I read on the boards is that it is originally an English name. conversation between James and Cyril Hobbins.

I keep seeing speculation of Tipperary and Kerry. but no solid proof of connection to a Denis or Patrick Hobbins that.

and that as military folk they did their rotations into Ireland and then met up with young Irish lasses. Married them sometimes and perhaps not.

Do you know where the original Thomas - Boylan information came from?

I'm thinking with the naming tradition that Denis's (Denis Hobbins / Ellen Loughnane) father might be named Patrick. but where from I don't know.
