Hello, Jim.

Thank you for the great information about the 2nd Warwickshire Regiment in Ireland.

My Hobbins ancestor was Patrick H. Hobbins, born in Ireland about 1837. He emigrated to St. Louis, MO, USA, in 1856. We don't know where in Ireland he was born. One cousin says Belfast; another says our family's roots are in Tipperary. No confirmation of either location thus far.

Cyril's "Redcoat theory" seems entirely plausible to me. I'd like to hear from anyone whose Hobbins ancestors were born in Ireland.

Patti
